The nanoscience major offers an in-depth exploration of structures at the nanometer scale, existing between cellular dimensions and molecular sizes. Northwest University's interdisciplinary program emphasizes hands-on lab work, from DNA extraction to nanoparticle synthesis for solar cell development. Students can concentrate in one of three tracks: nanoscale biology applies cellular-level nanotechnology, either examining living cell components or using biological systems as inspiration for nanodevices; nanoscale chemistry works with drug delivery systems, carbon nanotubes, and advanced nanomaterials while employing cutting-edge analytical tools; nanoscale physics examines light-matter interactions, property changes across scales, and nanomaterial design techniques at the quantum level.
