Rhetorical studies provides a comprehensive exploration of both classical and modern rhetorical research. The program features graduate-level courses covering rhetorical theory and analysis, modern oratory, communication ethics, American political discourse, conflict rhetoric, critical methodologies, argumentation theory, and rhetoric in social activism. Seminar topics might include presidential communication strategies or gender-related rhetoric.

The Master of Arts in Communication Studies enables students to enhance their expertise and leadership abilities across communication theory, media analysis, rhetorical studies, and journalism. Learners can specialize in a single area or design a customized curriculum incorporating multiple disciplines. Graduate candidates may concentrate their M.A. studies in interpersonal dynamics, organizational communication, persuasive techniques, rhetorical analysis, journalism, or media research.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant whose native language is not English must present an IELTS score of 6.5 or alternatively, a TOEFL score of at least 80 on the TOELF ibt, Normally, to be considered for admission, a non-U.S. citizen shall have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. A minimum 2.75 overall gradepoint average (GPA), based on a 4.00 system, in their baccalaureate program or must have completed 15 or more semester hoursof graduate work at an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.20 or higher.
In addition to the application, the following materials need to be submitted to the Graduate School.

At least two letters of recommendation (letters from professors are preferred).
Transcripts.
Statement of Purpose.
GRE Scores: Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher should contact the graduate director to request a GRE waiver.
The TOEFL and the Test of Spoken English are required for international students.
