This cross-disciplinary certification equips students for management roles in senior living facilities and healthcare sectors, particularly in long-term care administration. By successfully completing undergraduate accounting coursework along with specialized classes covering legal regulations, aging studies, and operational finance in long-term care, students fulfill the educational prerequisites for Illinois Nursing Home Administrator licensure exams. Available to all Northern Illinois University graduate students and graduate students-at-large who maintain satisfactory academic standing, this program requires consultation with either the student's academic advisor or faculty from the School of Family and Consumer Sciences for those interested in enrollment.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant whose native language is not English must present an IELTS score of 6.5 or alternatively, a TOEFL score of at least 80 on the TOEFL ibt. Normally, to be considered for admission, a non-U.S. citizen shall have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. A minimum 2.75 overall GPA on a 4.00 system or a 3.20 GPA with 15 or more semester hours of graduate work at an accredited institution.
