Students enrolled in the interdisciplinary nanoscience concentration can obtain a Ph.D. through either the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department or the Physics Department. Research areas within this specialization encompass the creation, development, analysis, and production of intelligent nanomaterials along with their possible uses, cutting-edge nanoscience theories, and the behavior and characteristics of nanofluids. Graduate students focusing on nanoscience take specified advanced courses across multiple fields. This cross-disciplinary method provides them with broad exposure to physical sciences and engineering. Completion of the concentration will be officially recorded on the student's academic transcript. Prospective students should apply to either the chemistry or physics Ph.D. program, specifying their interest in the nanoscience track. Consult the graduate studies director in the respective department to identify the required coursework for the specialization.

Qualification Requirements

Any student who has earned a baccalaureate or master's degree from an accredited college or university is eligible to apply for admission. An applicant whose native language is not English must present an IELTS score of 6.5 or alternatively, a TOEFL score of at least 80 on the TOELF ibt. Normally, to be considered for admission, a non-U.S. citizen shall have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. A minimum 2.75 overall GPA on a 4.00 system or a 3.20 GPA with 15 or more semester hours of graduate work at an accredited institution.
