The College of Education provides students with options to create customized study plans that diverge from standard university majors and minors. These flexible programs—the B.S. contract major and the Bachelor of General Studies (B.G.S.) degree—leverage existing university coursework. The two programs serve distinct educational purposes. The B.S. contract major enables students with unique, well-defined academic goals to craft a specialized major with faculty guidance. Conversely, the B.G.S. degree has no formal major requirement, offering a loosely structured curriculum focused on general education courses, mainly from the College of Education. This degree particularly suits mature students with diverse academic interests who may not seek preparation for a specific career path.
