Geography examines locations and spaces, investigating why things exist where they do and how a place's features influence natural phenomena, ecosystems, and human behavior. It delves into our relationship with the physical world, including how we modify and govern it. As an applied science, geography not only enhances our comprehension of the planet but also equips us to adjust and prosper within it. The geography major allows students to deepen their expertise in a particular field by selecting specialized courses from three concentrations: human geography, geographic information systems (GIS), or natural environmental processes. Through careful elective choices, students can fulfill federal civil service requirements for careers as soil scientists or hydrologists.
