Utilize NAU's cutting-edge facilities and proximity to unique geological formations to enhance your research in terrestrial and planetary analog studies. NAU collaborates with prestigious institutions including Lowell Observatory, the US Geological Survey's Astrogeology Science Center, the US Naval Observatory, the Naval Research Laboratory, the Discovery Channel Telescope, and the Naval Precision Optical Interferometer. Our curriculum covers specialized areas in astronomy and planetary sciences, including big data analysis and remote sensing applications. The Astronomy and Planetary Science PhD program equips graduates for research careers in academia, government agencies, or private industry. Students complete an eight-course foundational program while developing original research supervised by faculty advisors, culminating in a dissertation defense and oral presentation of their findings.
