The Marine Biology Master of Science program offers a distinctive blend of hands-on learning, field expeditions, scientific investigation, and professional training. The curriculum equips students with the skills to perform laboratory and field research while exploring marine life, habitats, and ecological systems across three key ocean regions: Nahant, MA and the Gulf of Maine, Panama's Bocas del Toro (Atlantic) and Coiba (Pacific), and Friday Harbor Labs in Washington's Puget Sound.
Following coursework, students undertake a half-year internship and self-directed research project at their preferred location. Program graduates showcase their work through both presentations and written reports. With selective enrollment and an intimate cohort size, the program fosters lasting professional connections and access to an extensive alumni network. Alumni leave ready to design and implement marine studies, thoroughly prepared for diverse career trajectories—from prestigious doctoral programs to rewarding roles in marine science fields.
