The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering recommends that students working toward both a GIEL certificate and an MS in Civil Engineering fulfill their MS course obligations during the initial year and address GIEL certificate requirements in the subsequent year. Those wishing to complete GIEL certificate coursework in their first year should consult with their MS program advisor in advance
For students enrolled in the MS in Civil Engineering program combined with the Graduate Certificate in Engineering Leadership, completion of 16 semester-hours of mandatory GIEL courses plus 16-20 semester-hours in their selected Civil Engineering specialization is required.
