The MS in Biotechnology program was designed to address regional and national demands for a more skilled scientific workforce, equipping students with specialized biotechnology knowledge and career-ready abilities for immediate impact in industrial, government, and healthcare environments. The biopharmaceutical analytical sciences track emphasizes the study of biological molecules' structures and behaviors, along with their variants generated during biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Participants explore the wide array of molecular variations arising from biological products through different biochemical processes, and how these structural modifications affect drug safety and effectiveness. The curriculum covers both theoretical knowledge and practical applications used in the biotech sector to examine and profile these molecular variants. This is achieved through analytical science coursework combined with hands-on laboratory projects employing techniques like mass spectrometry and molecular separation methods.
