Northeastern University is renowned nationwide for educating students in labor and employment law, preparing them for influential positions throughout the field. Alumni have held prominent roles at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), including as general counsel and regional directors, along with numerous other positions within the NLRB, U.S. Department of Labor, and state agencies. Major unions, such as the United Auto Workers, have consistently turned to Northeastern Law graduates for legal expertise. Our alumni represent diverse interests—from management and unions to government agencies, wage-theft advocacy organizations, and individual employees—handling cases ranging from local disputes to landmark Supreme Court litigation.
Through comprehensive coursework, Northeastern Law equips students to take full advantage of its unique co-op program, providing real-world experience at law firms, union legal departments, immigrant worker centers, and regulatory agencies. While labor and employment law has long been a dynamic field at the intersection of social justice and economic policy, today presents especially compelling opportunities as traditional industrial collective bargaining meets the challenges of the evolving gig economy. Our curriculum emphasizes how workplace structures and labor laws affect women, people of color, and other historically marginalized communities.
