The Bachelor of Science in biology program establishes a solid foundation in scientific education through fundamental coursework in mathematics, chemistry, and physics, all essential to biological studies. Learners examine life's structures and functions across diverse biological scales, ranging from molecular and cellular levels to organs, systems, populations, ecosystems, and evolutionary processes. Advanced elective options allow students to focus on specialized areas like developmental biology, stem cell research, microbiology, or human physiology. The curriculum offers extensive co-op placements in Boston's prestigious biotech sector, healthcare facilities, and research centers, along with national and global opportunities. Numerous interdisciplinary pathways integrate biology with fields such as behavioral neuroscience, biochemistry, and combined majors pairing biology with computer science, data analytics, English, mathematics, or political science. Because of overlapping course requirements, dual programs combining any two of these disciplines or pairing them with ecology/evolutionary biology, marine biology, or bioengineering are not available.
