The religious studies program provides students with the chance to explore religion across diverse cultural, historical, and political settings using comparative methods and examining religion's role in daily life. This major equips students with both broad familiarity with multiple religious traditions and specialized expertise in specific traditions, focusing on their practical applications and cultural significance—including the ethical and ideological questions that emerge from religion's influence on human society. Beyond studying individual religions, majors will develop foundational knowledge of the theories and methodologies used in religious scholarship. The program strengthens students' capacity for critical analysis, interpretation, and writing about various religious traditions through multiple academic lenses.
