This interdisciplinary program merges the study, investigation, and creation of both conventional and new media forms with coursework in U.S. government systems, global political comparisons, international affairs, and analytical techniques.
The Media and Screen Studies Program collaborates with the Political Science Department to provide a joint degree in media studies and political science. This dual-degree program blends the examination, exploration, and development of established and innovative media formats with classes covering U.S. governance structures, cross-national political analysis, global relations, and methodological approaches. This structure enables learners to pair Media and Screen Studies with another academic discipline. When pre-designed combined programs aren't available, students have the flexibility to craft their own customized dual-degree paths. The Media and Screen Studies and Political Science combined major requires completion of 9 courses from each discipline plus one integrative linking course.
