This program fulfills the criteria for earning an Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) degree specializing in Jewelry and Metals, along with a Certificate of Jewelry Design (CJD). By following the outlined path below, you can achieve both credentials in just 95 credits. This CJD to AFA track is structured to help you build an impressive jewelry design portfolio while equipping you for advanced studies in visual arts, whether pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a focus on Studio Art or Art History, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), or a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Visual Arts. Additionally, it prepares you to enter the creative industry with a versatile portfolio. Completing this pathway satisfies the requirements for both the certificate and degree.
North Seattle College boasts one of the most advanced studios in the Pacific Northwest. Participants in this program will gain hands-on experience in techniques such as fabrication, stone setting, small-scale metal casting, and mold making, while also nurturing their artistic abilities in jewelry design for both artistic and commercial purposes. Students will cultivate teamwork abilities and practical knowledge, learning how to establish their own studio and pursue diverse career opportunities in jewelry design.
