This program prepares students to transfer into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at a four-year institution. The Associate of Arts degree with a Pre-Nursing to BSN focus allows students to complete their science and general education requirements at North before transitioning to a university to start nursing coursework and pursue a BSN degree.
Participants in this program gain abilities in applying and explaining core scientific concepts for everyday life, practicing scientific investigation methods, analytical problem-solving, and critical thinking. Students also develop verbal communication skills, teamwork abilities, and an understanding of human psychology that benefits both personal growth and career development. These competencies remain highly sought-after by employers. Nurses play an increasingly vital role during current healthcare provider shortages. In reality, nursing represents the largest healthcare occupation nationwide, with professionals working across diverse environments including clinics, hospitals, long-term care centers, and community health settings.
