The Department of Criminal Justice provides graduate programs for both Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Criminal Justice. The M.S. program features three specialized paths: Applied Criminal Justice, Criminology, and the Plan C alternative (tailored for professionals in criminal justice and social service fields). This Criminal Justice program aims to strengthen students' abilities in comprehending, collecting, processing, and evaluating research within criminology and criminal justice. It focuses on examining, assessing, and interpreting crime causation and the criminal justice system's reactions. The coursework includes core classes in theory, policy, and research methodologies, along with three key disciplines: 1) criminology, 2) law enforcement, and 3) rehabilitation. Students can select one of these three areas for specialization.
Additionally, the program offers instruction on teaching college-level courses.
