Physics stands as the most essential and precise among the physical sciences. Its principles form the foundation for profound insights across all technological fields and numerous academic disciplines, including astronomy, chemistry, engineering, materials science, photonics, biology, medicine, geology, and environmental studies. Those pursuing a Physics Education major gain the skills to teach varied curricula to diverse student groups. Students should collaborate closely with advisors to ensure their general education courses lay a solid groundwork for advanced coursework. The Physics Department boasts expanding undergraduate and graduate programs while maintaining a relatively compact size, fostering close student-faculty relationships among its 11 professors. Students engage in research early, frequently co-authoring peer-reviewed papers and presenting findings at regional and national conferences. Furthermore, our students demonstrate remarkable involvement, excelling in the University Physics Competition and actively supporting outreach initiatives.
