The Department of Mathematics provides a comprehensive and diverse range of courses delivered by 19 faculty members. Students can pursue majors in either mathematics or mathematics education, with options to add minors in related disciplines. These academic decisions can be finalized early or postponed until foundational coursework is finished. Beyond the Bachelor of Science program, the department also grants master's and doctoral degrees. Recent years have seen growing demand for mathematical expertise across various sectors including actuarial science, computer science, statistics, engineering, economics, and business. For those with mathematical aptitude and passion, NDSU's Mathematics Department presents both stimulating challenges and promising career prospects. Through the Cooperative Education Program, students can earn academic credit for professional work experience.
