The natural resources program is an interdisciplinary initiative that equips students for careers in both private and public sector organizations focused on natural resource management. Through specialized technical tracks, the program combines foundational coursework in natural resource challenges and administration with complementary classes across various technical fields. The core curriculum aims to develop Master's-level professionals proficient in policy, regulations, and quantitative evaluation techniques. Available technical specializations currently consist of: analysis and assessment, ecosystem rehabilitation, economic and managerial studies, policy and governance, global resource studies, water systems, and geospatial technologies within the Forestry and Environmental Resources Department; outdoor leisure administration in the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management Department; and environmental design in the Landscape Architecture Department. Students may pursue these specializations through either the thesis-based M.S. in Natural Resources or the non-thesis Master of Natural Resources degree.
Applicants generally have an undergraduate degree in natural resources or a related field, though experience will be considered during the admission process.
