In our modern, interconnected society, individuals are increasingly united in a world full of opportunities and obstacles. Both personally and collectively, we actively mold this world while being profoundly affected by events occurring in its most distant regions. At NC State University, International Studies (IS) is a multidisciplinary program designed to equip graduates for a world where global connections coexist with divisions. Students select from various concentrations such as Africa, Europe, Latin America, East and Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Middle East, International Economy and Environment, International Relations, and International Cultural Studies. For each focus area, students can pick from courses across multiple academic disciplines. Every International Studies major completes three core courses, gains proficiency in a foreign language, and participates in study abroad programs. Through this approach, IS students develop skills to navigate cultural differences, understand global trade economics, and interpret the evolving geopolitical landscape of our interconnected planet.
