For over 135 years, NYU's Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS) has cultivated exceptional global leaders. The International Relations MA program (MAIR) upholds this legacy by equipping students with comprehensive training in global affairs through an academically rigorous curriculum. Our graduate program examines International Relations through multiple disciplinary lenses and diverse methodological approaches. By collaborating with faculty across GSAS, as well as experts from the Law School, Stern School of Business, and Wagner School of Public Service, MAIR students enjoy extensive academic flexibility to customize their educational path. The program also facilitates thought-provoking events featuring scholars, professionals, and peers to foster intellectual exchange within the international relations community.
Beyond the standard program requirements, students must achieve advanced proficiency in all Russian language competencies (speaking, listening, reading, and writing). This can be verified either by passing a proficiency exam or successfully completing a third-year Russian language course (equivalent to NYU's RUSSN-UA 108 Advanced Russian II) with a minimum grade of B.
