For over 135 years, NYU's Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS) has cultivated exceptional global leaders. The MA in International Relations (MAIR) upholds this legacy by equipping students with rigorous academic training for careers in international affairs. Our program examines International Relations through multiple disciplinary lenses and diverse methodologies. By collaborating with scholars across GSAS, as well as faculty from NYU Law, Stern School of Business, and Wagner School of Public Service, MAIR students enjoy unparalleled flexibility in designing their academic path. The program also fosters professional growth through events featuring scholars, practitioners, and peers to stimulate meaningful discourse in the field.
NYU's International Relations program prioritizes teaching excellence. Through our selective admissions, we maintain small class sizes to address each student's unique goals. Unlike larger international affairs programs at comparable institutions, our specialized curriculum delivers a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of International Relations while enabling students to focus on their specific areas of interest.
Beyond core coursework in International Relations and GSAS, our students benefit from access to NYU Law - consistently ranked as the nation's top program for international law - along with Stern School of Business and Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Students can also leverage NYU's extensive network of research centers to enhance their academic experience.
