The MA program offers comprehensive advanced education in political science and its research methodologies. Participants complete a minimum of five political science courses while mastering a key research technique used in the field. Students can tailor their studies to focus on particular interests or specialized areas within the discipline. The department structures its curriculum around four primary concentrations: American politics, comparative politics, international relations, and political theory. American politics examines U.S. political systems, including electoral processes, governmental institutions, public policies, and grassroots movements. Comparative politics analyzes political systems globally, exploring how cultural, economic, and governmental differences shape political dynamics worldwide. International relations investigates state interactions, global organizations, and the influence of laws and norms on world affairs. Political theory addresses fundamental questions about justice and governance, both through historical analysis and contemporary philosophical inquiry.
