Get ready for a career in academia. Our program covers key aspects of higher education's evolution globally and in the US, examining universities as institutions, student growth, student affairs as a profession, research methodologies, and issues of access and diversity. The degree combines theoretical learning with hands-on experience through immersive internships at NYU and across the New York metro area. Working professionals can balance coursework with their existing roles in higher education.

Choose from diverse interdisciplinary courses, with the flexibility to focus your studies in areas like student affairs, academic administration, global education, workplace learning leadership, or social justice.

In your final term, you'll create a capstone portfolio showcasing your academic journey. Full-time students must complete 20-hour weekly paid internships alongside their two-year coursework, receiving both financial support and crucial professional exposure. You'll take three courses per semester (including winter and summer sessions) and culminate your studies with a capstone project reflecting your growth. The master's program can be finished in two years or less.
