Founded in 1957, Florida State University's Higher Education program has a rich history of equipping students for thriving professional paths. Faculty and students consistently share research findings on postsecondary education policies across national, state, and institutional contexts. Our curriculum emphasizes three core foundations: academic achievement, leadership development, and equity initiatives. Throughout their studies, participants access pathways for professional growth and occupational advancement while expanding their specialized knowledge and revitalizing their career aspirations. Florida State provides Master of Science (M.S.), Education Doctorate (Ed.D.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs in higher education. The M.S. degree readies professionals for administrative, managerial, and leadership roles across diverse educational settings, including public and private institutions, community colleges, and universities. Practical learning components like internships and graduate assistantships complement academic coursework, bridging theory with real-world application. Our program delivers comprehensive professional preparation while establishing strong theoretical foundations that inform both current studies and long-term career trajectories in postsecondary education and student services. Instruction frequently incorporates hands-on learning through real-world scenarios, case analyses, and simulated experiences to connect academic concepts with practical implementation. Graduates commonly obtain foundational professional roles upon completing their degrees.
