The Transportation Systems Ph.D. program connects students with leading experts through hands-on apprenticeships to address pressing societal challenges. As part of the Connected Cities for Smart Mobility toward Accessible and Resilient Transportation (C2SMART) initiative at Tandon School of Engineering, you'll collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers on fundamental and practical studies supported by the National Science Foundation, U.S. DOT, and other organizations.
Alumni from this program have secured academic positions and technical leadership roles across global government agencies and industries. Earning this Ph.D. creates pathways to employment with entities like the World Bank, U.S. Department of Transportation, RAND Corp, or leading tech companies including IBM, Google, Amazon, and Ford.
Many faculty members conduct agency- and corporate-funded research, often offering complete financial support to qualified students who share their research interests.
