The Psychology and Social Intervention (PSI) doctoral program trains action-oriented researchers for academic and social science careers. You'll gain skills to analyze, reshape, and enhance the environments and systems that influence human development throughout life, while examining diversity and systemic disparities across individuals, institutions, and communities. Through close collaboration with faculty advisors, students engage in research design, data gathering and interpretation, academic writing, conference participation, policy development, and assessment projects. Faculty investigate diverse environments (including family structures, educational institutions, local communities, policy frameworks, and initiatives) and evaluate various interventions (psychological, social, educational, and health programs) at local, national, and global levels. Their work also explores how cultural backgrounds and identities interact with these environments and interventions. Situated in New York City, the program offers unparalleled access to study diverse urban communities while maintaining global connections.
