Develop into a sought-after educator qualified to instruct Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish for middle and high school students across the U.S. or internationally. Your journey begins with coursework in language studies, liberal arts, and teaching methods, followed by hands-on student teaching in New York City's diverse school system, home to over 200 languages. This program prepares you for initial teaching certification in New York State. Our distinguished faculty specialize in urban language education, cross-cultural communication, linguistics, and second language evaluation. During your junior and senior years, you'll engage in two semesters of classroom observation and teaching practice, refining your instructional approaches under the guidance of veteran educators. Many student-teaching positions transition into permanent teaching roles after graduation.
