Urban centers are pivotal in tackling today's global environmental issues. The Sustainable Urban Environments program equips students with skills to enhance urban sustainability.
Participants explore both social and technical aspects of urban environmental challenges while learning about policy and planning strategies needed to develop more habitable, eco-friendly, and fair cities. Interdisciplinary coursework focuses on hands-on projects, utilizing New York City as a living classroom while also studying sustainable urban models worldwide.
Through guided research and culminating projects, students gain valuable experience in performing and showcasing their work at School of Engineering public events. Upon graduation, our alumni are ready to pursue diverse environmental careers, from urban development to design. They also explore roles in community services, public administration, teaching, and cultural institutions.
Students have the option to pursue a 41-credit BS in SUE at Tandon combined with either a Master's in Urban Planning at Wagner or an MS in Applied Urban Science at CUSP. Prospective candidates should consult their academic advisors about these pathways before their third year.
