The Bachelor of Science program in Media, Culture, and Communication (MCC) at NYU equips students to critically examine culture and media through theoretical and historical lenses. This program fosters deep analytical thinking about our complex, ever-changing media environment.
Students have opportunities to expand their global media perspectives through study abroad programs, exploring media production, distribution, and consumption worldwide. The curriculum combines liberal arts foundations with specialized coursework, including three theory-based core classes and advanced studies across five concentrations: Global Communication and Media, Visual Culture and Sound Studies, Interaction and Experience, Media Industries and Politics, and Technology and Society.
The program allows students to enhance their media studies with professional electives from other NYU departments. These interdisciplinary options enable students to tailor their educational experience by combining courses from different program areas.
For those considering dual majors, MCC pairs well with journalism, political science, sociology, or other disciplines. Students should coordinate with both their MCC advisor and the secondary department's advisor to plan their academic path effectively.
