The MFA Industrial Design program equips you to navigate the complex dynamics shaping today's product design field. You'll examine how products can be created through both local approaches (crafting items tailored to specific regional requirements) and global perspectives (applying universal design methodologies). The curriculum blends hands-on fabrication expertise with theoretical analysis, utilizing Parsons' cutting-edge prototyping labs.
During their second term, students engage in small-batch production within New York City, while the third semester opens possibilities for international manufacturing studies through digital partnerships or overseas programs at locations like Parsons Paris. The culminating thesis allows for pioneering work that pushes the boundaries of industrial design concepts.
Alumni leave ready to pioneer groundbreaking products and steer manufacturing sectors. Professional opportunities span industrial design, product innovation, production management, furniture creation, social impact design, and plaything development.
