To align with the graduate program's mission and vision, the department establishes these objectives for the Master of Science (M.S.) in Civil Engineering degree: Equip students to meet the academic requirements outlined by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) for professional licensure and practice. Enable students to achieve the ASCE-defined Body of Knowledge essential for professional-level civil engineering practice. Train students in performing applied research pertinent to civil engineering practice. Prepare students for pursuing advanced graduate education leading to a terminal degree.

Qualification Requirements
A student seeking admission to graduate school at NMSU must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree from a regionally accredited institution. The academic program of the completed degree should be equivalent to a comparable NMSU degree's requirements.
