The Early Childhood Education (ECED) program at NMSU focuses on training future educators and advancing academic studies in research, scholarship, practice, and policy. This discipline addresses the welfare, growth, and education of young children from infancy to eight years old. Our curriculum approaches early childhood learning through a theoretical framework that situates it within wider social, historical, political, and cultural perspectives. Students engage in coursework that encourages critical analysis of early childhood care and teaching methods. The program emphasizes bilingual and multicultural education, fostering critical thinking skills, and promoting reflective teaching practices across all ECED courses.
