A geology degree opens doors to diverse career paths. The BS Geology program offers three specialized tracks. The Geological Sciences concentration follows a classic geology curriculum, combining geology courses with calculus, physics, and chemistry. This path prepares students for graduate studies and professional opportunities in industry, academia, government, and policy sectors. The Earth and Environmental Systems option blends geology coursework with environmental, economic, and political studies, leading to environmental industry careers. For aspiring educators, the Earth Science Education concentration combines geology and teaching courses, qualifying graduates to teach science in New Mexico middle and high schools after completing their bachelor's degree and one additional year in the College of Education.
