There is a recognized demand for qualified educators to work with children from birth to four years old in environments beyond public schools, including childcare centers, Head Start programs, and other organizations. The School of Teacher Preparation, Administration, and Leadership provides a non-licensure specialization within the Bachelor of Applied Studies degree, focusing on early childhood education for ages zero to four. This program prepares students for roles in both private and public childcare settings, early intervention initiatives, and Head Start programs. To graduate, students must fulfill all university requirements, including General Education courses, Viewing a Wider World components, and sufficient elective credits to reach a minimum of 120 credits, with at least 48 credits at the 300-level or higher. All ECED courses require a minimum grade of C- to count toward the degree. While developmental courses may be necessary prerequisites for English and Mathematics classes, they do not contribute to degree requirements or elective credit totals.
