The Associate in Science in Manufacturing Technology equips students for careers in manufacturing, including roles as manual and CNC machinists, machinery technicians, machinist apprentices, CAD operators, draftspeople, design engineers, and CAM programmers. This curriculum offers a comprehensive introduction to key manufacturing techniques like injection molding, vacuum forming, sheet metal work, casting, and laser cutting.
Graduates can pursue opportunities in production, research and development, tool and die construction, mold fabrication, or automated manufacturing. Hands-on labs use industrial-grade equipment and precision tools to develop skills for machining careers. The program addresses setup, tooling, and part verification after machining, along with training in industry-standard CAD and CAM practices, lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machinery. Additional coursework covers mechanical fundamentals, bench techniques, layout, inspection, blueprint interpretation, metallurgy, heat treatment, assembly methods, and jig and fixture design and fabrication.
