The Associate in Arts in English for Transfer program exposes students to English literature while offering creative writing studies as an elective. This degree equips learners with fundamental competencies required for pursuing a bachelor's degree in English, including literary analysis proficiency and the capacity to compose research-based critical essays. Graduates will demonstrate skills in crafting literary critiques, examining key themes in literature, and recognizing cultural impacts on artistic expression.
To obtain an Associate in Arts in English for Transfer, candidates must complete 60 transferable semester units to the CSU system, comprising either IGETC or CSU General Education requirements plus an 18-unit major. A minimum 2.0 GPA in all transferable coursework is mandatory, with all major courses requiring a C grade or higher. Those earning this transfer degree are exempt from additional local graduation prerequisites.
