Individuals holding a bachelor's degree who wish to teach can enroll in the post-baccalaureate certification program.
After finishing the program successfully, graduates will be referred to the New Jersey Department of Education for teacher certification. Those planning to teach in other states should consult their respective state education departments, as requirements are typically comparable.
New Jersey's Beginning Teacher Induction Program mandates that graduates of undergraduate or post-baccalaureate certification programs complete one probationary year of teaching with a provisional certificate before qualifying for a permanent standard teaching certificate. This requirement does not apply to candidates who already hold a standard New Jersey teaching certificate and are pursuing additional endorsements. University-recommended candidates will obtain a Certificate of Eligibility With Advanced Standing, enabling them to pursue teaching positions in New Jersey and other states. This certification remains valid indefinitely.
