The Department of Physics and Astronomy provides diverse degree pathways. Each program includes foundational courses that build essential physics knowledge while honing analytical and problem-solving abilities. Students can pursue a standard physics major, specialize in astronomy or pre-medical studies, or choose from multiple educator preparation tracks for K-12 science teaching. Our accelerated five-year programs enable students to earn both a BS in Physics and either: an MS in Applied Mathematics, an MBA, a teaching-focused MAT in Physics/Physical Science (with certification), or a Mechanical Engineering Master's from Stevens Institute. Many undergraduate physics degrees inherently satisfy the Mathematics minor requirements. Interested in physics but not committed to changing majors? A Physics minor might be the perfect complement.
