San Diego State University stands out in The California State University system with distinctive features: it hosts the sole independent astronomy department and manages a research observatory on Mount Laguna, just a brief drive from San Diego. Our faculty teach astronomy courses ranging from introductory overviews of the universe for general interest students to specialized classes for those majoring in Astronomy or Physics.
