Students pursuing a chemistry degree will gain the qualifications needed for careers in chemical industries, doctoral programs in chemistry or biochemistry, science-related professional education, or teaching credentials.
The Chemistry Major integrates Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics coursework with hands-on lab experience and mandatory research. Program graduates secure roles in industrial sectors, enter Master's or doctoral programs, or teach at the secondary level.
Our Department fosters an engaging learning atmosphere with extensive practical experimentation and personalized research opportunities. We aim to equip driven students for careers or further education in chemistry, biochemistry, and related scientific disciplines, including medicine, pharmacology (supported by our Articulation Programs), biotechnology, and bioengineering.
Those seeking P-12 Chemistry teaching certification must apply and gain admission to the Teacher Education Program. Refer to the program's website for course sequences and essential guidelines. Reviewing the Teacher Education Program Handbook is highly recommended. Chemistry majors can select between Physical Science or Chemistry certification tracks and should consult an advisor to choose the appropriate path.
