The Visual Arts Major is ideal for students looking for a well-rounded academic journey with an artistic emphasis. Around 30% of the coursework focuses on studio classes, while the remaining 70% covers general education topics, enabling students to pursue their artistic specialization while gaining a comprehensive liberal arts background.
Visual Arts students develop skills across multiple mediums and methods, such as ceramics, drawing, metalwork and jewelry design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture, with opportunities to showcase their creations both on campus and beyond. Our bachelor's program stays current with modern artistic approaches, and our interdisciplinary MFA equips graduates for sustained success as professional artists.
Through our Combined Degree option, undergraduates can take graduate-level courses during their final year, applying these credits toward both their Bachelor's and Master's degrees. These dual-counting "swing courses" help students complete both degrees more efficiently, often within just five years.
Career Paths Include: Professional Artist, Creative Director, Painter, Sculptor, Art Valuer, University Art Instructor, Photographer, Installation Artist, Corporate Art Consultant.
