Students pursuing a Political Science major or minor will explore the structures, organizations, key figures, governance strategies, and ideologies that influence both U.S. politics and global governments. This program cultivates future leaders in political and policy spheres at national and international levels. Additionally, when paired with a pre-law minor, it serves as an ideal foundation for law school, as most U.S. elected officials studied political science or related disciplines. The pre-law minor complements majors like Jurisprudence exceptionally well.
Political Science reveals the mechanisms behind collective decision-making and community formation. It provides tools to analyze and tackle societal and global issues while demonstrating how individual actions impact our world. The Policy Studies Major equips students to evaluate policy impacts across government levels and various organizations. This program combines liberal arts education with practical skills for policy careers, focusing on analysis, problem-solving, data interpretation, communication, and policy development.
A key feature is the 6-credit capstone internship, available locally or through Washington, DC programs, where students complete projects showcasing their abilities to potential employers.
