Music Therapy involves collaborative sessions between clients and certified music therapists, using music to enhance both psychological and physical well-being. Through thoughtfully designed musical activities, clients can work toward therapeutic objectives addressing diverse needs. Music therapists serve people of all ages and backgrounds, either individually or in groups. They may operate as part of a healthcare team or independently, evaluating client requirements, setting treatment objectives, and implementing music-centered healing approaches. These professionals practice in various settings, including hospitals, mental health facilities, rehabilitation centers, hospice care, correctional institutions, and community programs. The Cali School supports graduates in exploring career prospects.
Established in 1969, the Music Therapy program ranks among the nation's most prestigious and longest-running training initiatives. It includes hands-on clinical training each semester at regional institutions, educational facilities, senior care centers, and hospitals throughout the New York metro area. The curriculum also incorporates a Music Therapy Training Group, an introductory course on Guided Imagery and Music, plus specialized instruction in piano accompaniment and clinical improvisation. International and domestic experts regularly conduct workshops and presentations for students.
