Ranking as the world's sixth most spoken language, French is used across all continents except Antarctica. Projections suggest that by 2050, French could become the most widely spoken language globally, driven by demographic expansion in sub-Saharan Africa. Multilingualism provides significant competitive edge in today's job market. Notably, French serves as one of the United Nations' official languages. Our program offers deep immersion into French language, literature, and the diverse cultures of France and Francophone regions.
The French Major with a French Civilization concentration allows students to select French language courses, develop advanced written and oral communication abilities, and supplement their General Education with civilization and culture electives. Students may also participate in Study Abroad options, including academic year programs or our summer program in Nice, France.

Career Paths: Language Specialist, Anthropologist, Business Executive, Psychologist, Sociologist, Research Professional, Educator, Linguistic Translator.
