The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) holds accreditation from ACEND, the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics under the Academy of Nutrition. Upon finishing the DPD, graduates obtain an ACEND Verification Statement, qualifying them to pursue an AND-accredited Dietetic Internship. Completing this internship is the last step before eligibility for the national registration exam to become a Registered Dietitian.
Alternatively, students may fulfill DPD requirements by obtaining a second bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Science-Dietetics. Those pursuing the AND certificate instead of the second degree often combine it with the Master's in Nutrition and Food Science program, as certain graduate courses can count toward the certificate requirements.
