Microbiology is a broad scientific field encompassing multiple specialized areas such as bacteriology, fungal studies, protozoan research, algal science, parasitology, and viral studies. Montana State's Microbiology program allows students to explore all these major branches, equipping them for careers in microbiological research, healthcare, veterinary medicine, or environmental microbial studies. The program provides five specialized tracks: Pre-Medical, Pre-Veterinary, Environmental Microbiology, Public Health Microbiology, and Clinical Laboratory Science. Students may also pursue Microbiology as a secondary academic focus.
