Montana State University provides snow science students with access to an exceptional natural laboratory: the Rocky Mountains. Working alongside leading experts, students first master the fundamentals of snow properties, dynamics, and spatial patterns before specializing their focus. Graduates pursue diverse paths including avalanche safety, infrastructure planning, transportation consulting, and advanced research. The Earth Science program also features four additional specializations: Geography, Geology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Urban Planning, and Paleontology.
