As a participant in this program, your coursework will center on essential petroleum engineering classes, complemented by additional courses tailored to your research focus.
The petroleum engineering department provides master of science, doctor of philosophy, and doctor of engineering degree paths. For the master's program, students may choose between a thesis or non-thesis track.
Graduate studies in petroleum engineering lead to master of science, doctor of philosophy, or doctor of engineering degrees. The master's program offers both thesis and non-thesis completion options.
Although the program particularly welcomes applicants with petroleum engineering bachelor's degrees, many admitted graduate students come from other engineering disciplines like chemical, mechanical, or geological engineering. These students are accepted with the understanding they'll complete any necessary petroleum engineering prerequisites during their master's studies. Those with geology or geophysics backgrounds must also fulfill all foundational engineering course requirements for an engineering degree.
